Autumn Leaves

It's still mid-August in the Mid-Atlantic, but just this week I felt a very tiny rush of joy as a subtle autumn breeze floated by. My son and I were surprised to notice a clump of leaves in our backyard that were already blushing with a faint burnt orange color, and I was reminded of the months ahead, my favorite time of year. This fall brings many changes for me, with the bittersweet excitement of my daughter going off to college for the first time, the challenge and enjoyment of my own educational and career pursuits, and my continued reflection upon life, past, present and future.

I think most creatives will agree that this is also a very productive time of year for us. The cooler weather and shorter days have us craving long stretches of time to express the colors of our art on paper, canvas, or whatever medium we may favor. We read more, think more, and create more. After a hectic summer, I am happily anticipating the joy and peace of autumn, and as September rolls around, I will be looking forward to some added studio time and new commissions, projects, and creations. If you have an idea that has been on your mind for awhile, now is the time to get in touch; I am always happy to discuss possibilities and ideas for calligraphic works of art.

I agree, Cindy! LOVE the fall though last year was hard saying goodbye to my youngest son going to college--know how you feel. This year was easier! And the coolness is wonderful here! xo
